Saturday, May 10 2008 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m (Event venue – Green McAdoo Cultural Center lawn) Slow Blind Hill has been playing its unique combination of blues and jazz around Knoxville since 1994. Imagine a combination of Louis Jordan, Freddie King, Jimmy McGriff, and Duke Ellington, with a little Muddy, Jimi, B.B., and Miles thrown in for good measure, and that’s Slow Blind Hill. Original members Jaimie Cameron and Eddy Roberts have been working with harmonica player Henry Perry since the untimely death of trumpet man Charlie Box in 2003. Graham Butler, the latest addition to the band, is eighteenth in a long line very talented drummers. Slow Blind Hill has four CDs on their label, Straightnose Records. The band’s most recent CD, “Jump in Deep,” contains all original material and will be in stores soon. In the meantime, you can buy it (and any of the other band’s CDs) from the band at their live shows and on the Web (www.slowblindhill.com.)
There are opportunities for organizations and/or church groups to set up vending areas on May 10th and May 17th if you are interested or would like more info, please call 865.463.6500.
Musical events are free and open to the public, with the exception of the Jazz Concert on Monday, May 26th at 8:00 p.m.
Please bring lawn chair or other item to sit on for Green McAdoo lawn musical events.
